The Truth: About Lifestyle Diseases

A very dear friend of mine is over weight and went for a routine check up to discover that she had High Blood Pressure (Hyper tension). She was stressed at work, and had no time to exercise or follow a healthy lifestyle. She ate out everyday from work but ordered the most expensive gourmet sandwiches, pastas, continental or Chinese with Diet Coke, she rarely ate heavy greasy Indian food. She knew she was over weight, but she thought by eating expensive continental food and avoiding greasy Indian she was being healthier than most.

When she went to meet her family doctor with the reports, I decided to go with her because I wanted to know how she was going to go about curing herself, it was my love and selfish motive to see her healthy that compelled me to go with her, It took 40 minutes of waiting in a crowded waiting area, till we were called in. After browsing through the reports for about a minute, and some polite conversation, the doctor put his pen to paper and as he was writing the prescription, these were his exact words “don’t worry beta, just cut out the fried and oily stuff, avoid salt and take this pill every morning and you will be ok. Whatever you do, make sure you take this pill every morning, you young girls these days have a lot of stress (chuckled), so this pill will keep the BP in control. Don’t worry, it’s all under control”

As we walked out, she had a huge smile on her face; she thought she had resolved her problem.

She had left the doctors office with no understanding of what was actually happening to her and why, all she knew was she has “High Blood pressure” and that to her meant exactly what the word spell out. She felt like she had to make no changes in her nutrition as she rarely ate greasy food. She also sheepishly admitted to me that she often binges on chocolates which she will cut down on. So in her head the combination of cutting down on chocolate and taking the pill for the rest of her life meant she was back to normal.

As I am a practicing Naturotherapist who cures through food, I was keen to see if she would listen to my take on High Blood Pressure. She saw the restlessness in my eyes, and giggled as she said “my dearest Sej, I know your methods are more correct, but its such a pain to eat only fruits and vegetables all the time, and I do eat them in my sandwich’s, but I cant take a risk of having High Blood Pressure, so I’m just going to take the pill, don’t worry, I will try and eat healthy too and cut down on the salt.”

What she does not realize is that Naturotherapy does not involve eating only fruits and vegetables, it is an entire lifestyle based on smart intelligent and informed choices.

I smiled to hide my helplessness, because I am believer in allowing people to make their own choices. And if they absolutely believe they know what’s right for them or are not even open to understanding their bodies, then so be it. I also believe everything happens for a reason, and even though I can’t help my friend, I believe this experience happened to me so I could share it with those who want to listen.

Today High Blood Pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and other lifestyle diseases are as common as a cold, and most people like my friend, believe that taking pills will cures them.

As a doctor of natural medicine I believe, continuous chemical intervention into a body’s natural processes has led to a host of complications and ailments. Western medicine looks to suppress symptoms and therefore works against the balancing forces of nature. That diarrhea, sneeze or rise in blood pressure is the body’s natural mechanism to cleanse or support itself but we continue to blindly suppress the symptoms whilst ignoring true root causes.

Furthermore our bodies are the most advanced pharmacies in the world but we callously supplement them rather than stimulate them to do the work they were designed to do. Our perception on our bodies is disempowering, we are made to believe that we do not have the ability to understand or comprehend the working of the body. The truth is that the answers actually lie within you; it’s a matter of tuning into your body as a way of life. The body has been created to perfection and carries out all functions flawlessly unless YOU disrupt it.

By disruption I mean, the type of lifestyles we lead. Today most of the food we eat is not wholesome, it is processed using chemicals to preserve and enhance taste, and its stripped of all its nutrients in the process, even the basics like Salt, rice, wheat and sugar are processed. To understand this better lets use my friend’s example; she believes she eats healthy by avoiding Indian greasy food, to an extent it helps, but what she doesn’t realize is that most restaurant food today is made using processed ingredients like poisonous refined salt, poisonous refined oils, MSG, taste enhancers, color enhancers, refined flour and refined sugar.

Refined Salt being of crucial essence here because what western medicine claims in reducing HBP, actually worsens it. IODIZED salt is bad for you and must be cut out. However to cure high blood pressure you need Salt, but natural salt (Rock Salt).

To add to this the Food & Beverages Industry has pumped the market with products like chips and soft drinks which are absolutely of no nutritional value but in fact severely damaging to the body. She believes that a Diet Coke will keep the calories in check, however it works just the opposite, as the chemicals used to manufacture coke or even worse diet coke are so toxic for the body, that it retains fat and water to dilute the water soluble and fat soluble toxins, thereby only adding weight.

With computers and internet, her need to move around has also decreased significantly, and she does not even get in the bare minimum movement that is required to keep your body and joints flexible and healthy.

Her decisions came from the fear of not wanting to be ill, which I understand, but the choices she made to achieve that goal is what I wanted her to question and hope you do too.

Allopathic medicine definitely has its place in the spectrum of miracle recoveries, if we take it for what it is — a stop on the path to wellness and wholeness. I wholeheartedly am grateful for the miracles that allopathic medicine has provided. When viewed as a component of the process of overall health, I think that it serves an important purpose. It’s just a matter of putting it all in the larger perspective and plan, and not abusing the function it serves, or using it for manipulative purposes.

The Truth: About High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

This is a modern-day dis-ease. A silent Killer.

It is important to understand how this works: The blood which circulates through the arteries within the body supplies every cell with nourishment and oxygen. The force exerted by the heart pumps the blood into the large arteries and creates a pressure within them and this is called blood pressure.

A certain level of blood pressure is thus essential to keep the blood circulating in the body. But when the pressure becomes too high, it results in hypertension which is caused by a spasm or narrowing of the small blood vessels, known as capillaries, throughout the body. This narrowing puts more stress on the heart to pump blood through the blood vessels. Hence, the pressure of the blood to get through rises in proportion to the pressure on the heart.

The fast pace of life and the mental and physical pressures caused by the industrial and metropolitan environments give rise to psychological tensions. Worry and mental tension increases the adrenaline in the blood stream and this, in turn, causes the pressure of the blood to rise.

Another important cause of hypertension is a faulty lifestyle which includes excessive smoking, excessive intake of intoxicants like tea, coffee, alcohol, colas and refined foods which prevent the expulsion of waste and poisonous matter from the body and clog the arteries and the veins.

Repeated infections and inflammation in the kidneys can also give rise to hypertension. The kidneys play an important role in controlling blood pressure through secretion of Rennin, a natural chemical. If increased Rennin is secreted by the kidneys, more salts are retained in the body, which leads to an increase in the volume of circulating blood and consequently to an increase in the blood pressure.

Obesity, diabetes and severe constipation can also lead to hypertension.

Last but not the least, other causes of high blood pressure are, excessive intake of pain killers, common table salt, food allergies and eating a high fat, low fiber diet with processed foods that are deficient in essential nutrients.

I know it is the easy way out to pop a pill each morning, but unfortunately the modern medical treatment of high blood pressure is highly unscientific as it brings down the pressure by pharmaceutical drugs without making any effort to remove the underlying cause. These may temporarily reduce blood pressure, but they do not cure the condition and are harmful in the ultimate analysis. All drugs against hypertension without exception are toxic and have distressing side effects in the long run.

I know it’s easier said than done. Correct your lifestyle and find ways to de-stress. Try and follow a well-balanced routine of proper nutrition, yoga and rest.

Getting to the root of any issue is the only way to truly and correctly solve it. If you insist on popping that pill and take no responsibility of your own health, you are asking for a life that involves more pathology than happiness.

Your body is your soul’s vehicle in the 3rd dimension, the quality of your vehicle will determine the quality of your journey. The more well maintained it is the smoother the ride!!

The Truth: About Malaria

If  you think getting Malaria is no fault of yours, and it’s the damn anopheles mosquito’s that causes it….. You are ONLY half right, as  a mosquito only carries the parasites that cause Malaria,  and the parasites can only cause havoc if you let it.

Everything, from the planet to the parasite is created for a purpose, and causing you harm is on no ones list. There are many “parasites” in your body, most of these are symbiotic relationships, meaning that you need them as much as they need you.

In fact, if you were laying on a table and could make all your human cells go away, a perfect 3-D image of your shape would remain in place as there are more foreign cells in your body than human ones.

As you might know by now, I am not a great friend of killings things in the body, including parasites, fungi and bacteria, to do so would leave billions of corpses of organisms behind that would cause more problems than if they were kept alive to do what they are created for – Decomposing waste products and weak or dead cells.

If they are creating havoc in your body, please understand – They are there by Invitation Only!!

For example: The mosquito needs a stagnant pool of water for its life cycle, it does not invade a body of water and make it stagnant.  It finds a body of water that already provides the kind of environment that it can thrive in.

It is the same with all infections in the body, the environment was created first, and so if there is stagnant morbid matter in your body, then the living creatures that need that type of environment will naturally seek it out and thrive in it.

The real cause of malaria, as in case of any other infectious diseases, is wrong eating habits and a faulty lifestyle, which weakens your immunity resulting in the system being clogged with toxin, accumulated systemic refuse and morbid (dead) matter that is just sitting in your body inviting the parasites to come feast.

It is on this soil of toxicity and morbid matter that the malaria parasite breeds.

The liberal use of denatured foods today such as white sugar, white rice, white flour and products made from them, as well as tinned foods, strong tea, coke, Pepsi, tea, coffee and alcoholic beverages, lower the vitality of the system and paves the way for the development of malaria which is caused by a tiny parasite called plasmodium. The parasites grow in the liver of a person for a few days and then enter the bloodstream where they invade the red blood cells. The female anopheles mosquito draws a small quantity of blood containing the parasites, when she bites a person who has malaria. These parasites then pass through several stages of development within the mosquito’s body and finally find their way to its salivary glands. There they lie in wait for an opportunity to enter the bloodstream of the next person. However upon entering the blood stream, if your immune system is firing on all cylinders, the parasites will not stand a chance of survival, let alone multiplying.

As you can see, it is crucial to keep your immune system strong. With the way the planet is headed, many more H1N1 swine flu, dengue fever and malaria parasites are going to be floating around, and you need to be protected from the inside out, not outside in.

A High Fever is the most common procedure carried out by the body for of all types of Malaria and this is done to kill the parasites and cure you naturally. Malaria DOES NOT necessarily require antibiotic treatment. Your body is the most advanced pharmacy in the world, it is important you stimulate it to do the work it is designed to do and heal you naturally, rather than callously supplement it.

Last but not the least use Citronella, as it repels insects such as mosquitoes, black flies, fleas and ticks therefore, preventing its bites. Citronella oil/incense stick is a natural non-toxic alternative to chemical poisonous insect repellents like Good Night and Mortien which contains DEET (N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide). They may prevent malaria but cause other adverse effects like insomnia, muscle cramps, mood disturbances and rashes.

The Truth: About Salt

Do you know, how important Salt is for the body?

Salt is a vital substance for the survival of all living creatures, particularly humans.

Water and salt regulate the water content of the body.  Water itself regulates the water content of the interior of the cell by working its way into all of the cells it reaches to cleanse and extract the toxic wastes.  Salt forces some water to stay outside the cells.

Another way to explain this is that there are two oceans of water in the body; one ocean is held inside the cells of the body, and the other ocean is held outside the cells and Good health depends on a most delicate balance between the volume of these oceans, and this balance is achieved by SALT.

Salt is also crucial for the extraction of excess acidity from the cells in the body, particularly the brain cells. Salt is very important for the generation of hydroelectric energy in the cells in the body.

Do you know, Common Table Salt you buy from your grocery store is completely Bleached and Leached of all its minerals. Common Table Salt also includes additives including aluminum silicate (to make it free flowing), dextrose, bleaching elements, and other chemicals, making it POISONOUS for the body?

SALT IS VITAL FOR THE HUMAN BODY: BUT THE RIGHT TYPE!

The WRONG type of salt is common table salt you get, its often labeled as  “ free flowing”  or “refined salt” or “iodized salt”.

The RIGHT type of salt is Natural salt that is unrefined crystal Rock salt.

The Truth: About FDA

FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION

Straight from the horse’s mouth: Here is what the  FDA claims their job is:

The FDA is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation. The FDA is also responsible for advancing the public health by helping to speed innovations that make medicines and foods more effective, safer, and more affordable; and helping the public get the accurate, science-based information they need to use medicines and foods to improve their health.

When a lay person reads this, the most normal reaction is to take a sigh of relief and religiously look for FDA approvals on everything you buy.

For no fault of yours, it’s not your forte! You assume that the FDA is the expert and they will take care of our safety when it comes to food.

Well they don’t !!!

I understand that this is an outrageous claim to make, and most of you are probably thinking “now she’s pushing it too far”  but stay with me and I hope to show you’ll what I see.

Lets take macaroni and cheese, as an example, the type you buy (ready to eat) that you get at all super markets across the world.(India Included).

Below is what the FDA labeling says behind each box.

Enriched Macaroni Product (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Ferrous Sulfate [Iron], Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid, Cheese Sauce Mix (Whey, Modified Food Starch, Whey Protein Concentrate, Cheddar Cheese [Milk, Cheese Culture, Salt, Enzymes], Granular Cheese [Milk, Cheese Culture, Salt, Enzymes], Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, Contains Less than 2% of Parmesan Cheese [Part-Skim Milk, Cheese Culture, Salt, Enzymes], Dried Buttermilk, Sodium Tripolyphosphate, Blue Cheese [Milk, Cheese Culture, Salt, Enzymes], Sodium Phosphate, Medium Chain Triglycerides, Cream, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid, Enzymes, Yellow 5, Yellow 6).

Modified food starch is an additive that increases the bulk of a food. Other additives include potassium chloride that are used instead of salt to decrease the sodium level in foods, sodium tripolyphosphate  is used to maintain moisture, Medium Chain Triglycerides is a substitute for regular oil. Artificial colors yellow 5 & 6 have shown to cause neural problems in some children.

How come all this is not mentioned?

Lets assume that they are aware and are monitoring the quantity of additives and preservatives that are being added, and lets say the FDA makes sure, that the food item does not exceed a certain amount of chemicals in it, there by making it safe to consume.

Heres the catch:

FDA safety standards are calculated per serving, so if you eat one serving of anything that is FDA approved, you would be under the danger limit. but if you eat it everyday, which is what most of us do with products like Oil, chips, cookies, chocolates, bread etc

The chemicals start adding up…. slowly and steadily they poison you !!!

Dyes, bleaches, antioxidants, preservatives, chemical flavors, buffers, noxious sprays, alkalizers, acidifiers, deodorants, moisteners, drying agents, expanders, modifiers, emulsifiers, stabilizers, thickeners, clarifiers, disinfectants, defoliants, fungicides, neutralizers, anticaking and antifoaming agents, hydrolyzers, hydrogenators, synthetic hormones, steroids and four thousand other drugs that just make your mouth water with anticipation, are being used extensively so that food can be standardized, stocked and distributed without rotting !!!

It’s all building up and the biggest proof of this, is the general ill-health in society. We have an epidemic of cancer, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and many other such ailments today.

The mind surely plays a big role in maintaining optimum health, but so does the food you eat !!

The Truth: About Disease

With most people today, fear of disease is greater than the fear of God and understandably so. I was once a part of “most people”.

The fear of disease comes from the way it is used by health care professionals. The fear of disease comes because we are told that a disease can be fatal. The fear of disease comes when we are made to believe we have no control over it. It’s the feeling of being helpless that creates the fear.

I am not going to focus on the role F&B and Pharmaceutical Industries  play in building this fear, even though it’s a BIG part. I will save that for another article as it’s a topic on its own.

I would rather first tell you what disease really is.

DISEASE is nothing more than DIS-EASE

The very word denoting illness contains its own best definition: dis-ease.

Dis-ease is the earliest stage of illness NOT the last.

Dis-ease is another word for discomfort.

Dis-ease may be defined as a state which is not conducive to inner harmony.

Dis-ease is an energetic imbalance, a shift in your natural vitality that is not beneficial.

It is worth seeing how the Thesaurus defines disease and dis-ease.

Dis-ease is a way your body communicates with you. It is important to perceive words like dis-ease correctly, as these are the foundations to building a healthier body. The truth is, that there is only one disease in today’s world, with many different stages, Modern medicine have given these stages many different names. The final stages of dis-ease are cancer, heart attack, strokes and things like that, but nobody wakes up one morning and suffers from these things without experiencing the beginning stages of disease. What happens is that people don’t identify the beginning stages of disease or ignore it and it keeps coming back worse and worse. If you just listen to your body and take correct actions when you feel slight dis-ease, it will never end up being what you believe is disease.

The Truth: About High Blood Pressure & Salt

This is a big one! Only because, what western medicine claims in reducing  HBP,  actually worsens it. of the very few half  known facts that are taught in med school, salt happens to be one of them. As usual they got it half right. IODIZED salt is bad for you and must be cut out. HOwever the other half which is of utmost importance is that to cure high blood pressure you need Salt, but natural salt (Rock Salt).

The result of consuming common table salt is the formation of overly acidic edema, or excess fluid in the body tissue. If the sodium chloride is still too high, re-crystallization of the table salt occurs as the body uses available non-degradable animal proteins (as those found in milk), which also have no value and cannot be broken down and eliminated. The body uses these proteins to produce uric acid in order to get rid of the excess salt. As the body cannot dispose of uric acid, it binds itself with the sodium chloride to form new crystals that are deposited in the bones and joints. This is the one of the main causes for arthritis, gout, and kidney and gall bladder stones. Popular diets say you should reduce or even eliminate dietary salt for good health, especially for high blood pressure. Perhaps refined table salt, which acts like a poison in your body. But the research is undeniable: reducing or eliminating salt is basically wrong. Your body absolutely requires salt, but it has to be the right kind.

Table salt is made up of chemicals that pollute your body and create havoc with your health. Table salt is actually 97.5% sodium chloride and 2.5% chemicals such as moisture absorbents, and iodine. Dried at over 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, the excessive heat alters the natural chemical structure of the salt causing the potential for a myriad of health problems in your body. High intake of table salt causes the body to retain water, which raises the blood volume. This problem is further aggravated by our natural tendency to drink more water after consuming a salty meal. This leads to hypertension, causing additional strain on the heart and the walls of the arteries.

Healthy natural salts contain no toxins and over 84 minerals and elements necessary for your optimal health specially for high blood pressure. However it is important to know that no more than 5 gms is recommended per day.
HBP requires a lot more nutrition than just rock salt, however, try and use this information to make a shift, not just for yourself but for the entire family.

The Truth: About Allopathy

What is a system of diagnosis and treatment worth, that starts with “symptoms” that are, in truth, nothing but “organized effects” !!

When a body is out of balance, doctors attempt to put it back into balance, first through drugs, then through surgery. The general effect is to remove the symptoms, not to deal with the ultimate cause of the ailment.

For example, when a surgeon removes a fibroid tumor, or tonsil, without a thought, or the slightest knowledge that these enlargements are but organized effects – neoplasms (new tissue growths) – that cannot possibly come into existence without cause, which cause is not touched by the operation – and, then, pronounces his – patient well (cured). He has only removed the symptom not the cause.

So long as the real nature of disease and real source of cause are not understood, this will continue to be true.

That diarrhea, sneeze or rise in blood pressure is the body’s natural mechanism to cleanse or support itself but we continue to blindly suppress the symptoms whilst ignoring true root causes. Furthermore our bodies are the most advanced pharmacies in the world but we callously supplement them rather than stimulate them to do the work they were designed to do.
You need to eliminate root causes by treating the entire physical, etheric, emotional and mental being. You are not just a collection of cellular processes but rather a thinking, feeling, living spiritual being and its time medical sciences recognize and incorporate this in to their modalities.

Allopathic medicine definitely has its place in the spectrum of miracle recoveries, if we take it for what it is — a stop on the path to wellness and wholeness. I wholeheartedly am grateful for the miracles that allopathic medicine has provided. When viewed as a component of the process of overall health, i think that it serves an important purpose. it’s just a matter of putting it all in the larger perspective and plan, and not abusing the function it serves, or using it for manipulative purposes.

The Truth: About Skin

It is important to understand the role our skin plays. apart from wanting to keep it flawless and wrinkle free, which is generally our priority.

It is important to understand the real purpose of its existence.

The skin is the body’s largest organ accounting for 16% of body weight. it is our front line of defense to protect the body  from  dehydration, injury, and infection. Your skin absorbs  close to 60% with sponge like efficiency  directly into the bloodstream !!!

So your skin eats too !!!

The question is:

What do we unknowingly feed our skin everyday?

The answer is:

alpha hydroxy acid, Ammonium laureth sulphate, Coal Tar, Aluminum, Bentonite, Benzene, Benzyl acetate, Dibutyl phthalate and many moreBe aware that there are over 1000 chemicals available for use in shampoo, baby bath, cosmetics and lotions that have toxic substances and hidden dangers to your health.  All products even the most expensive ones that are mass manufactured and have a shelf life have chemicals!! Period!! 

The question now should hopefully be:

What do I need to feed my skin?

The answer is:

“Feed your skin only what you would actually eat.”

All fruits and vegetable peels are great for the skin, what I typically do, is use whatever left overs i have of my morning fruits, as  a soap/scrub in the shower, anything from orange peels to banana peels to papaya skin.. i scrub it all over and rinse it off (face included).  the scrubbing action will clean your body of all the sweat and grim, and the skin will absorb all the nutrients, truly enriching it. 

It’s that Simple !!!
